Open Philanthropy partners with philanthropists who want to help others as much as they can. We offer bespoke, pro bono services to donors pursuing high-impact giving at scale, leveraging our global staff of 140 to answer key questions about where and how to direct your philanthropy. 

Our team of experienced grantmakers has directed over $4 billion in grants since 2014, in causes ranging from global health to AI safety and pandemic preparedness. We have an unusually analytical approach to philanthropy, focused on maximizing philanthropic cost-effectiveness in order to help others as much as possible.

For donors who are aligned with our values, we offer support in three key areas:

• Selecting causes strategically. We’ve done research in a broad range of areas — beyond what’s on our website — to identify opportunities that are especially important, neglected, and tractable. We can share our findings with you and work together on bespoke research to explore promising areas. If you are looking to make a foundational investment in an area of mutual interest, we can work together to staff up and make grants.
• Sourcing promising grant opportunities. When we find high-impact grant opportunities in your chosen focus areas, we can share them for you to decide if you’d like to make a grant.
• Partnering with others. We can help you amplify the impact of your philanthropy by joining forces with donors who share your vision. For example, in 2024, we brought 10 donors together to launch the Lead Exposure Action Fund, a $100 million fund to accelerate progress toward a world free of lead exposure.
