Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $160,000 over two years to the University of Southern California to support a clinical trial led by Dr. Jeffrey Klausner testing linezolid as a treatment for syphilis. Linezolid is an inexpensive antibiotic commonly used to treat pneumonia and certain types of skin infections.
