Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $114,000 to the University of California, Santa Cruz to support research, led by Professor Cihang Xie, on adversarial robustness in AI systems. This funding will support salaries and other costs for two graduate students in Professor Xie’s lab.

This follows our January 2021 support and falls within our focus area of potential risks from advanced artificial intelligence.
