Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $468,004 over two years to Rethink Priorities to support a research project on animal welfare and sentience, especially for species that are currently poorly understood. These funds will assist a team of academic collaborators in publishing papers and help to build a network of animal welfare researchers.

This falls within our focus area of farm animal welfare.
