The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $199,000 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation to enable it to carry out some preliminary work on policy-relevant questions related to progress in artificial intelligence, led by Peter Eckersley. We believe that Dr. Eckersley’s background, which includes policy and advocacy work on technology-related topics, makes him a good candidate to do this type of work.
