The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $100,000 in seed funding for the Corrections Accountability Project (CAP), housed at the Urban Justice Center and led by Bianca Tylek. CAP aims to eliminate the influence of commercial interests on the criminal system and end the exploitation of those it touches. In the near-term, the organization is taking on the following activities to expose the harms caused by the commercialization of justice and return resources to affected communities: public education, legislative and government engagement, investor and corporate activism, and potentially impact litigation.
This is a discretionary grant.
