The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of €325,494 ($367,222.33 at the time of conversion) over two years to support a new project focused on building the farm animal welfare movement globally. The project will be run by Andrzej Pazgan and Laura Gough, will be initially housed at Anima International, and will launch with a focus on Eastern Europe. Early success there could lead to expansion to to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and/or Africa.
Our farm animal welfare team believes large portions of the world still have little organized farm animal welfare advocacy, and that the only support capacity that does exist in some regions is in the form of corporate cage-free advocacy, which may not be a good fit for all countries and activists. This project, by identifying promising groups, training them, coordinating them around campaigns, and funding them, could eventually increase farm animal welfare capacity globally.
This falls within our focus area of farm animal welfare.
