The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $500,000 to the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls (National Council) via Families for Justice as Healing for general support. The National Council is a network of women impacted by incarceration focused on ending the incarceration of women and girls—a fast-growing incarcerated population—through a mix of relationship building, research, leadership training, and advocacy work.
This is a discretionary grant, and falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
Update: In July 2018, we added $250,000 to the original award amount. The “grant amount” above has been updated to reflect this.
