James oversees Open Philanthropy’s global health and wellbeing programs on policy, as well as our program on Effective Giving and Careers. James joined Open Phil in July 2022 from GiveWell, where he led programs in policy and advocacy, including work across lead exposure, alcohol policy, suicide prevention, and the response to COVID-19.
He holds a B.A. from the University of Oxford and an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics.
