Emily Oehlsen

Managing Director, Global Health and Wellbeing

Emily leads Open Philanthropy’s Global Health and Wellbeing work, which accounted for more than $500 million in grants in 2023 and includes programs focused on scientific research, policy advocacy, global development, and phasing out the worst factory farm practices. She joined Open Philanthropy in April 2021, first working on new cause investigations and helping to manage the Regranting Challenge. She previously worked at DeepMind, Uber, and TGG Group. She is currently a doctoral student in Economics at Oxford University, and she has a BSFS in International Political Economy from Georgetown University and an MPhil in Economics from Oxford University.
